How many Harleys are made that way?

How many automobiles are made that way?

If I wanted a Yammiezukeehaw, I'd buy one.

I was just pointing out that most motorcycle trannies and clutches are bathed in motorcycle engine oil. The same can be said for ATV's. It's pretty rare to hear of tranny failures caused by oil.

Harley must have a reason they put Syn. 3 in their most expensive bikes from the factory. I'm sure it's not because they want to replace primaries and trannies.

To each their own. I just wanted the OP to know they are safe using synthetic in all 3 holes if desired.

Sure you can run Mobil 1 or Syn 3 in all three holes of course, but to me it made more sense to run different oils in all three holes...each oil is doing a different job...Specific oils for each task will work better I would think... Just looking at the consistency of these different oils should make this point self evident... Personally I run Mobil 1 V twin 20w-50. Redline transmission fluid (very thick) and Redline primary fluid...

If you can use Syn3 in a 3 orifices, you can use the mobile 1 as well as a zillion other products. Personally I use Redline 20/50 MC oil in the engine, their Shockproof in the transmisson, and their Primary goop in the.......wait for it................Primary.

While there are thousands of other possible choices and products, anything other then the above is simply wrong and will result in a grenaded engine. Now you know THE truth!

Gee another oil thread. Does anyone use search. However, since you obviously don't and have not read your service manual, Harley says not to use motor oil in the primary including it's own SYN3 now. This obviously applies backwards to all Harleys (someone said it's not in the CVO manuals but that he was told it was in primary by a salesman and we all know they don't lie. Not sure why anyone would want to use motor oil which has additives to keep contaminants in suspension so filter catches them in primary or transmission for that matter. (transmission and primary have no filter and the magnet is just to catch metal to show bearing or part failure) Harley obvious made a mistake in the past and they intend to rename their blended natural base / synthetic motor oil SYN2 shortly.

I run Syn3 in the engine and BelRay in the primary and transmission. My 15 was delivered with syn3 in all 3.

Where are you reading in that in the service manual?

I've run Mobil1 in all three holes for years now and have never had a problem.

Can you show where Harley no longer recommends Syn. 3 in the primary? I have the 2014 Service Manual and my 2014 FLHTKSE Owners Manual and both advise to use Syn. 3. I've attached photos for your review:[URL=http://s760.photobucket.com/user/dgreen1069/media/FullSizeRender_zpst9t87nnc.jpg.html][/URL
