Best way of using the gps system
#21
I've been using Basecamp gpx exported to thumb drive and can download to the nav system without any adjustments. Has always been spot on. I just make sure I add a Waypoint on every road I want to take if it's not the most direct/quickest route in Basecamp.

H-D Planner works fine for me, too. Just have to connect your Garmin using the free plugin for your browser. Be careful, it only saves the waypoints, so unless you have enough waypoints to "force" it to take your desired route, it may choose a different route between waypoints than you intended. Also, when you make waypoints, be sure to zoom in on them and make sure they are on the road you intended. Sometimes they are actually on a side street, causing unnecessary turns, which is pretty annoying.
One last thing: Be aware, while riding, whether you have avoidances turned on, such as "avoid highways". Sometimes I turn it off to get somewhere fast, but forget to turn it back on. Or vise versa, sometimes I have had it on avoid highways when I really just want to get somewhere fast, and it took much longer to get there.

Thank you all for your inputs. Been away from home all week, but will follow the advice above when I upload my routes from the USB stick. I think I was loading too much stuff and it looked confusing, Cheers.
