my dealer let me borrow a '14 tri glide a while back for a 250 mile trip while mine was down. i had to adjust the shifter. I double checked my tightness before returning it and it fell off when I touched it, bolt was tight. Lucky I didn't loose it.

 

Yesterday, I was traveling through Northern VA (on Route #66), on my way home. Trying to take an exit to gas up, I wasn't able to shift down, so I pulled over to check the bike and found that the shifter shaft was out of places. I shift it using linkage (on 3rd gear), and made it to local HD dealership. Two others guys at the dealership also had a Rushmore bikes, and they had their shaft broke as well. Checking the forum, so many had this issue, but why is not a recall?

 

HD quality control, gotta love it. they let this crap go on for years before fixing things.
