I am trying to connect my PV1 to my 2014 SGS with a PV2 6 pin cable and I am getting an error message can not read ECU data. Ignition and run switch is in the on position. Everything comes on as expected just wont read ECU so I can send Fuelmoto my stk.file for a new license and new tune. I also noticed that the data port on my SGS only has 5 pins and the cable is advertised as a 6 pin. Any suggestions???

they only use 5 pins in the 6pin connector you may need to use pv-2..

 

I was under the impression that there was no difference in the PV1 and the PV2 just the 6 pin cable.

 

If you need a new license for the PV it most likely won't read the ECM because it is mated to another bike.

 

actualy Im not sure there is 5 pins on the bike but only 4 pins of 6 in my pv-2 cord.

 

I agree you might need a PV2, I wonder if trying to hook up a 6 pin cord from a PV2 to a 4 pin cord from a PV1 might be part of the problem...the other is you need to marry the unit, that you will need to pay the $199 unlock code to do.

 

Make sure you're firmware for the PV is up to date.

 

I have a PV1 that I have hooked up to a 14+ with a pv2 cable, no problems other than it is married to a ecm I no longer have.

The OP is hooking it up so he can get the file off of it so he can request / pay for a new ECM to be married to his PV.

 

Are you sure you have the right cable for the data port? That is - connecting to the right port on the bike. It happens.

 

Turned out to be a software issue. Called Fuel Moto and Brian walked me through the process. I had my new tune and license within 15 minutes of hanging up the phone. Hats off to Brian at Fuel Moto for the quick turnaround and the excellent customer service.
