Two years ago, when I was getting ready for a trip to the Rocky's I wired mine up, myself. I considered the tender plug, but opted not to. I bought most of my stuff from these guys, warm and safe
and put a coax jack in for a clean, weather proof, connection, wired right to my battery/fused. I absolutely love it, between my heated grips, pant and jacket liners, and I even have heated gloves if it's really is cold out.

I have tried a few different controllers and this is my go to. Big buttons, easy to use with gloves. I use the lead that came with it off the battery.
