Full exhaust for California 2014 FLHR
Ok guys, I am needing a little help understanding my own situation. What can or can't I do regarding exhaust? I have recently added some 33" straight pipe fish tails on my 2014 RK, and I thought they sounded pretty decent. although I noticed it didn't sound as "Rumbly" as I hoped. I knew when i purchased the pipes that they were gonna be more than likely temporary noise makers until the warranty runs out then I want to really open up the exhaust. What is keeping us California guys from running full exhaust with O2 simulators for a truly deep HD rumble? And since this is just one area of improvement I am seeking advice on, I will be posting more threads regarding Cams, Apes, Speakers, Seats, and Lowering. Can't ask for everything in one shot.
Thanks,
Rich

In my experience, fishtails by their design have a higher pitched raspy sound. Larger diameter fishtail mufflers, like 3" Samsons, will have a deeper tone; but still a little raspy. For more of a deeper rumble, I'd say at least a 3" muffler with more open ends. But what the hell do I know...😬

Depends what you plan to do - are you wanting to stay CARB/EPA compliant? If so, HD Street Cannons will sound nice while not making much more noise than stock and they do have fish tail tips for them. If you plan to gut the header or replace it then there are a lot more options - one to stay away from without the cat are the Street Cannons........they don't sound good without the cat in place.

I totally disagree, I have Street Cannons and decatted head pipe on my 14 SGS and sounds nice at idle or cruising speed but barks real throaty deep when you hammer on it. But everybody has their opinion, I'm real happy with my setup.

California will fine you if your mods are not EPA & CARB compliant, the parts have to have a
CARB & EPA stamp on it somewhere. Most manufactures sale some parts with that stamp on
it to comply to State law or it is not sold in Cal. That said, E-bay has some de-catted headpipes
for sale at a good price, and they appear stock.
Just Saying.
