Default 2014 Street Glide Special Inner Fairing Speedometer Trim Rings

I am wanting to remove the 4 "Chrome" Trim Rings that surround my gauges on my 2014 Amber Whiskey Street Glide Special. Since I have blacked out most parts on the bike I would like to black out these as well. Any ideas as to how to remove these and not break them?

That 3M adhesive is tough.... heat gun maybe, but I'd be VERY careful.

Have you considered Plasti-Dip?

I would be concerned about the heat gun, the trim rings are plastic and the amount of heat it will take to loosen the tape may deform the rings or destroy the finish.

If you don't already know, the good thing is the tape is only on the front lip of the trim rings, there may be a chance you can squeeze some nail polish remover around the trim with a q tip breaking down the adhesive. But I don't know what that might do to the finish of the fairing.

Good luck.

The 2 small ones are clipped onto the gauge clamps. The 2 larger ones are just sandwiched in by the gauges. They will come right out when you take your gauges out.
