2015 RoadGlide, Syn3 from factory!!!???
#11
I have a 2015 Road King, it did not come with Syn3 in it. RKs are touring bikes too. I too believe the Syn3 in CVOs is more marketing than anything. I can tell you that I will never put it in my primary again. I put Syn 3 in the primary on my 2014 Limited at the 1000 mile check. It started makin all kinds of noise particularly at idle after a few hundred miles. I drained it and put good old Formula plus back in it like it comes from the factory and the noise immediately stopped. Others have found that out as well.
cheaper.

I think the Syn3 does not work well with the newer bikes with the new compensator, '14 up. The compensator is stronger but has more moving parts and I'm thinking the viscosity of the synthetic can't handle it. They SAY you can use it in all three holes but I stopped using it in all but the motor. I will continue to use Formula + in the primary and a tranny gear fluid in the tranny. I mentioned the primary issue with the Service Manager and he agreed totally. They have had several bike owners complain of the noisy primary and when swapping back to Formula + they noise disappeared. Mine sounded like a coffee can full of loose bolts and nuts during idle.

I was on my way to a rally with my 14 limited and was 1/2 quart low on oil stopped at a dealer and asked that question what did it come from the factory with. The salse person went to the Service manager who looked it up and said that it came with dino so that is what I put in until I did the 1000 mile service. That being said about all three holes I used syn 3 in all 3 holes on my '09 but the book calls for formula on the 14 so that is what is in there.
