In addition to the stock tires that come on Harley's Tourers Dunlop also makes an improved version; American Elite which has dual compound. They can be purchased through independents and on-line tire discounters for considerably less than most dealers charge for the OEM Dunlops.

The Stock Dunlops on the 14 were a high milage tire but they were too hard... Scared the crap out of me crossing paint lines on the highway or riding on slick streets. So at 15 K with plenty of tread left I switch to the Commander 2's & it made a world of difference... Increased my cornering confidence a thousand percent.

I have run the c-II on my last bike, I agree a great tire. Will be putting
them on the new Limited as well.

You say you are good with keeping up on tire pressure, what are you running for pressure? I run 40psi in the rear and so far no problems. I had a 2011 RK and I ran the Michelins and liked them but my 2014 Road King came with the new dual compound Dunlops and I am having good luck with them. I think I will stick with the Dunlops as they are easier to come by if you have a flat on the road and replacements at the dealer.

40psi checking just about every time I ride or every weeks if the bike is sitting , I had a 09 SG that I was not good with the tire pressure at all and they both cupped badly , my bad

Dunlop rep at the motorcycle show told me their American Elite's were dual compound but the OEM tires were not. But I just looked on my RK and they're D407T, is that what the "T" means?

Unless you misunderstood the rep, sounds like the Dunlop rep didn't know his own product. The stock 2014 Harley touring tires along with the American Elite's have the dual (multi-tread) compound in the rear tires only. Dunlop told me that the fronts don't have it because it didn't perform well during testing.
