Default Denim Paint

Hey guys,
So I'm thinking of finally trading my wideglide for a SGS. I have only seen them in vivid black, amber whiskey and denim. I kinda like the denim with the red pinstripe and am wondering about how easy it is to clean and if it shows scratches like vivid black does. Do they clear coat it or is it just painted. Just wondering if you can buff out light scratches like clear coat.

I read on another thread that if you try to buff out scratches on the denim paint, you'll end up with a shiny spot.

Anyone know if that is true?

That's the reason I didn't go with denim. Once there are scratches of any kind there is nothing that can be done. With standard paint at least polishes and compounds can be used to get rid of them, or at least make them less noticeable. It's easy to clean, but in my opinion no easier to maintain in the end. I enjoy cleaning mine on days I can't ride due to weather (we have lots of those). I think it really just comes down to personal preference.

It's easier than gloss black that is for sure. Gloss black shows swirls so easily. But you can't buff it and you can't touch it up. It's called denim cause they say it wears like a pair of jeans. I can say that is pretty true. My nightrain has a "broken in" look to it now with little scuffs and fading here and there

Just moved from vivid black to satin charcoal, which is treated the same as denim. Doesn't show dirt/dust. So easy to clean up and no swirls.

The nice thing about denim paint is there's no need to wax or polish it and it seems more difficult to scratch. The bad part is that once you scratch it you can't buff it out. I have only had my denim black bike since September and like the easy cleaning. HD has a denim paint cleaner and I have some stuff from Chemical Guys made for matte finish paint.

The local dealer has a sign on all the denim bikes, and only the denim bikes.... "Please Keep Off"

Made me gun shy

I have a denim black Lo and I love the color! It is easy to keep clean, some soft cloths and Windex WITH ammonia keeps it looking nice; no need for any of those pricy brand name chemicals. As for the scratches, yes, they will show if you scratch the paint but I haven't had to baby my bike, just take care of it as you would any other painted vehicle. I hope this helps, good luck.

That's what I was afraid of. Not sure I like the idea of not being able to buff out small scratches. That amber whiskey is starting to grow on me. Would also like to see a bike in charcoal pearl.
