Default Passenger Arm Rests - Need a review

This summer I am letting my 11 year old son ride. I am looking at getting the passenger arm rests for him and I am sure my wife will enjoy them too. I have not found very much information on here using the search. Does anyone have a good review of how well they work? I really want to know if they lock into place, or just swivel feely? I do a lot of solo riding so that makes a difference. Any pictures will also help, before I bite the bullet and spend the money on this accessory. Thanks

I had after market passenger arm rests on my 09 Ultra Classic. I did not purchase them as they were on the bike when I bought it. My wife hated them because they got in the way of her natural arm position. I didn't much care for them either because I was always kicking them when dismounting the bike and I would have to remember to move them out of the way to mount. The ones on my bike sort of locked, it was a ball and socket lock like on the HD passenger floor boards. Needless to say, they were removed and sold on this very forum. This is my opinion, take it for what it's worth. They may work great for you. Good luck.

Thanks, that is the kind of feed back I am looking for. Anyone else have any good or bad experiences?

I rode a GoldWing for many years and the wife always appreciated the passenger armrests on that bike. I installed the latest HD armrests on my 2014 LTD thinking she would like them. She tried them about 6 times and is now ready for them to come off the bike. She is 5'3 and the armrests sit too low for her. She has to slouch to make them somewhat usable and her back gets tired quickly. I didn't like that they were always in the way of trying to open saddlebags or tour pak. You have to move them all the time to access the bags. They are coming off this weekend and will hit eBay shortly after that.

I had arm rests on my 2012 and this Christmas got new ones for the 2014. My wife LOVES them. I actually really had to talk her into the upgrade to the 2014 when she found out the arm rests were not immediately available (bought it last year).
I agree with the earlier posts. They get in the way often when opening the tour pack and I usually kick them when getting on the bike. Still, my lovely wife can not say enough good things about them. As a result, they will stay on.

We have a Goldwing and my better half requested Arm Rests on the new Limited. So I bought these Harley "Tour-Pak Passenger Armrests", Harley Part Number 52400073. Very well constructed (particularly when compared to some of the after-market versions I've seen on both Harley's and Goldwings), very comfortable according to my wife and from my perspective they are also quite convenient. They can be removed and/or reinstalled in a matter of minutes, as each can be removed with a single Allen Screw. When removed nothing is visible. While they do not "lock" in position; you can easily adjust the tension on the pivot such that it'll essentially be "locked" in position.

The Harley Website has pictures: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...16-52400073--1

Bought mine on-line from Kutter HD for $320 (List is $399.95).

My boys were riding with me much younger... on a Heritage. No armrests.

I put a Corbin seat and backrest on mine... the armrests are much longer than the stock ones.

Wife loves it.
