Would appreciate the part #

+1 for JT_HDs write up.

And it's true that you do not need any cable extensions. It took me about three hours the first time but I'll bet I can do the next set in less than two.

Super simple on Rushmore's once you get past the initial anxiety of taking apart your brand new bike.

Unhappy Short Rider Problems HD softail 2012

I just bought a softail and I am very petitie. I really need to get the bars as close to me as possible so i'm not hanging over the tank. Should I go with the Harley Extreme reach or is there a better brand?

The amount of labor i've been quoted ranges from 4-12 hours
I wish I was handy

Also I need to have a rear mount kickstand added because I can't reach the current kickstand even after I kick the floor boards up.

I've already had a reduced seat put on.

Pete, those bars have now been discontinued by Harley. I just went in today and tried to order some for my 2015 FLHTK. No go. Had to order 55800589 reduce reach batwing bars. Trying to figure out if I need the extra $600 in parts that Harley claims I need to make these bars work.
According to the counter dude:
I need:
37200038A Kit clutch line hyd d'back ($125.99)
41800244 Brakeline upper xl diamond ($70.99)
41800321 Brakeline upper mid ABS ($50.99)
41800323A Lower mid brake line ABS ($99.99)
41800332 Brake line lwr diamondback ($145.99)
69200034 Switch wire extension kit ($30.99)
55800589 Batwing reach handlebar ($159.95)

Total cost of all this mess is $684.89 +$47.95 tax yields a total of $732.84 for just parts.

Has anyone done this with these bars (55800589) and not had to mess with all these parts? By the way the date today is Dec 27, 2016.

JT_HD did an excellent thread on doing the job, if not for him I never would of gave it a go. The manual makes it sound like a major job so I was reluctant to try it.
Soooo happy with that little 2" extension, so much more comfortable!

Pete F is right on with the do's and dont's. One thing I never had to remove was the ignition switch as the cover to the light switch's is slotted and pulls right out, just have your tank covered so nothing gets scratched no matter how you do it.
