Default What Torque Wrenches are u guys using?

With the torque requirements on the fluid change plugs and other things-what torque wrench are u guys using/recommending? Digital, Clicker or Bar Gage or? I see HF has some inexpensive ones but accuracy would be my concern.
TIA
Ron

I only use clicker models. Somehow I trust them more but, that's personal preference. I use either Gedore or Norbar.

I looked at a gearwrench digital 3/8" drive today. They are a little pricey, (200-400 bucks) depending on where you buy them.

I use a pair of Craftsman 3/8 clickers, a long and shorter version. I like em.

It is what it is, but I've never had problems with the HF clickers.

Gearwrench clickers. They are all metal and come in various sizes. They also come with a calibration slip. I like them so much I've purchased 3.

Been using Craftsman clickers for years. I wouldn't own a bar gauge cheapy myself. Can't see how they can be accurate.

You mean the beam style? Those are extremely accurate.

I was asking because I need to get a torque wrench and got a coupon today from Harbor Freight and they had clicker Torque Wrenches on sale for about 60 % off 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drives. So look very reasonable price wise about $12 dollars each. with a 4%+/- accuracy so may just pick up one of each tomorrow.
Thanks,
Ron

I don't have their 1/4" one, but I've got the 3/8" and the 1/2". There's actually a fair bit of info out there showing that 1) clickers are marginally accurate and 2) The HF units are no better or worse than anybody else in accuracy.

Interestingly they also have a digitial torque measuring thing that you can put in between a regular wrench and socket and it will show you how much torque is being applied. That unit was shown to be very accurate and I use it to calibrate my clickers once a year because that digital guy doesn't get out of spec.

Anyway. I would at least check them and find the ones that aren't sitting in tension on the shelf, or just calibrate them yourself when you get home. There's plenty of videos on the net about how it's done.
