So today I got into the garage from all the snow!
Loosened stock ring and slipped new gloss ring on tightened both and the attached pic is what I ended up with.
It just seems like a big gap at bottom where screw is located?
Is this gap correct after install?

It will tighten up completely. After loosening the stock ring, pull it forward toward you to allow as much space in the gap that the rear lip of the trim ring sits in. Position the new trim ring over the stock ring and seat the rear lip of the new trim ring into the same groove the rear of the stock ring sits in.

While holding the outer trim ring together and in place with your left hand, take a small pocket screw driver and tighten the inner ring through the gap. Then tighten the outer ring a little more.....then tighten the inner ring as much as you can through the gap and finally tighten up the outer trim ring.

It should close completely with a little patience, it's all about seating the rear lip into that groove.

Good luck!

Default Gap

I Have the Daymaker and visor trim ring. I too had the gap,and the screw was stripping,so I went to ACE hardware and got a button head Allen screw worked a lot better. Now the gap is thinner than a credit card. Get a stainless steel one.

Not really, I took black ring off and stock chrome ring underneath to measure how much it could possibly close and I am very disappointed with HD quality it should be a seamless ring and close completely I guess am expecting too much
Thanks for remembering.

I just installed the truck light and black visor trim on my 15' street glide today, and it was a PITA to get the black ring over the stock trim.. I eventually got it as well, but still have a small gap..
