Default How Long Before Better Gas Mileage?

UPDATE: I now have 4500 miles on the bike and have averaged 36 to 38 miles per gallon. I have had two tanks where I got 40 with a tail wind. I had about given up when it dawned on me to check the speedometer's accuracy. So this evening I took my garmin out on the bike and lo and behold the speedometer is dead on with the garmin speed indication for every speed from 35 to 70mph.
So, my conclusion is that I was never getting 40-42mpg on my other three Ultras because they all registered about 3mph fast at 50 and above. Turns out, I'm getting the same mileage as always, only now it is a more accurate reading.

Have 850 miles on the new '15 Limited Low and still only getting 36 miles to a gallon. How long before I can expect it to move up to the 40-42 range that I always got with my '01, '04 and '12?

It took until after the first oil change for me. Then I switched to synthetic too. Maybe the combination of the break in and synthetic oil did it.

Thanks, I was hoping it would move up after the 1k mile service. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't something wrong with the bike. The other bikes were amazingly consistent on mileage.

Hmmmm......... maybe I just wanna get where I'm going. I'm averaging 38-39 over 10K miles on my '14 Ultra Limited. Well, now with that said, I have gotten 42-46 at times if I dawdle along at the speed limit.

I've averaged 40mpg for the last 170,000 miles doing all kinds of riding on completely stock bikes. I'm not much of a performance guy. I just like to ride and see this great country we live in.

I put 600 miles on a bone stock 2015 Ultra Low and got 40mpg every tank and I broke her in hard. Have since done a stage 1 upgrade with fuelmoto pipe, don't have any miles on that yet for comparison.

I quess if it didn't start to improve within another 1000 miles I'd look at a dyno tune ?
