How Long Before Better Gas Mileage?
#41
Here's a post on what I was seeing with my speedo, bike gps and external gps. I agree that the speedo and gps are same source. In my case, I think the lines on the speedo are off just a little, the faster you go. At 80 GPS and external GPS, my bike registers about 83. Funny, I did not have to make any changes with my PV as I did on my 13 UC and wife's 14 RK.

For me, it's not about great gas mileage, it's knowing what mileage you get. Also, it is just one more way to keep an eye on the health of your bike.
Some of the riding I do, I have to plan for gas stops and in some areas, it's 60+ miles between gas stations. I've done a couple Iron Butt Saddle Scores in various increments and the Bun Burner. Eight gas stops versus 13 makes a big difference in time.

If It's off, it's off by a percentage. I'll use round numbers: If you're showing 45 and it's 10% off, you're actually going 50 so that's 5 mph off. If you're showing 80, you're really going 88 and that's 8 mph off. So the faster you're going, the higher the error is so in your case that makes sense.
I can say that at 100 and 105, the speedometer and GPS are back dead nuts on.
With your logic, it would have been off at the other points as well.
Speedo / Bike GPS / Uleysee GPS
20 / 20 / 19
30 / 30 / 30
44 / 44 / 44
61 / 60 / 60
72 / 70 / 70
82,83 / 80 / 80

The issue is that the speed indicators (the lines) on the speedometer are off just a little in a couple spots. It's not a percentage that happens with a lot of new bikes like I had with my 13 Ultra or when your rear tire wears down or you change its size.

Thanks. Ya I know PV2 will allow a fix and I'm seriously considering getting one. I'm staying stock for the most part and don't really need one that bad. I guess I know myself too well because I know I'll mess with it and a little knowledge can be very dangerous with these tuners.

You could try a tuner, or you may be in the same boat as me and the speed indicators are slightly off. You would think that the speedometer supplier would be all the exact same way though....

Not really that funny because mine IS off by a percentage and not "assumed" to be off.
