Default Key fob battery dead?

When I got the into my hotel room on Mon I laid my key ring on the cabinet below the TV. Tonight when I went to ride to dinner the bike would not start unless I entered the security code.

I checked the manual and there is a reference that leaving a fob next to a computer monitor can run the battery down.

I've only had the bike three months so I wouldn't think the battery to be dead already. Anyone seen this happen?

I doubt I can get to a dealer before Fri but I will swing by one as we leave for our trip.

Did you have the fob in your pocket next to your cell phone while you were trying to start it? That can interfere with the signal for up to a few minutes at a time.

Man I gotta get off my *** and put some extra batteries in the tour pack.... I keep blowing it off and I know this is going to bite me yet. I haven't tried to use the code yet either, I need to teach that to myself before I actually need it. Thanks for the reminder post!

What about the second FOB>

Whenever I take a trip, I always give my wife the second fob - just in case. Glad you set the security cords.

I keep some extra batteries in my trunk. My fob battery has not gone dead - but the alarm battery has. If you have the alarm, please make sure you turn that off when not traveling. Otherwise, it is on and will kill the battery.

Go to Amazon - order a few batteries - they are inexpensive there.

If my memory is good, it's a 2032 battery, pretty common

Open the FOB up and wipe the battery off. Mine will work for a few months at a time and then I have to wipe the battery off and get a few more months before doing it again.

Walmart, Lowes, any hardware...

For 2 bucks the worst you will have is a spare.

Not to be a smart a$$ here, but that's why you should always remember your PIN and how to use it.

Question FOB BAttery

IS there a time frame that U have to change out the battery and put in the new one, before it loses the code?

Had that trouble with my truck, is HD the same?

Too lazy to walk down to bike to get out the manual, bed time for me (night worker)

Thanks T-Bird
