Is K&N selling the filter with the contour of the cover now? I believe S.E. has a spacer that mounts to the filter to make it flush, but I could never find a part#.

The spacer comes with the SE kit. I bought the K&N after, and it works perfect.
I use the Screamin Eagle backplate and filter for Stage 1 on my '13
I use the S&S Stealth backplate and K&N filter in my '02
I like the S&S because of the cone on the back side of the filter plate which is same as the old S&S Super aluminum covers. All this is hidden behind your stock cover "Stealth"
I have the Screamin' Eagle air cleaner and a K&N filter under my stock cover.
So does the stock black housing that sits behind the stock A/C cover remain in place to keep the stock look? The dealer told me that it comes off with the SE Stage 1 filter upgrade and doesn't look all that good. Then I also heard from a dealer parts guy that the stock A/C on the Rushmore bikes breaths about as well as the SE filter and no noticeable improvement is realized. BTW, I'm going to move forward with the PV2 after all so I may be giving you a call.

I am not sure about 14 wetheads but, in all other applications, the stock backplate and filter has a small lip that engages the throttle body bore and reduces the bore diameter. To fully utilize the throttle body bore requires changing the AC backplate.
