Default Nitrofill Nitrgen Tire Inflation. Anyone done this on their FLHXS?

I have nitro filled tires on my car. (the dealer puts Nitro on all the new cars) After 18 months with the car I have to say that it's the best thing since sliced bread. My tire pressure is always always always even and I never have to adjust the pressure. By the way Never means Never. The reason for that is that since the nitrogen is denser than regular air it won't leak out as fast if it leaks at all. Nitrogen also does not heat up as much as regular air which results (supposedly) in cooler tire temperature and longer tire life as well as increased fuel economy. I'm not sure about the latter but I will say I love the maintenance free aspect of nitro and the nice even tire wear I'm getting from my car.

Anyone running Nitro in their bikes? If so what's your opinion? I'm thinking of doing it on my FLHXS.

The only advantage is maybe... maybe less moisture.

The air we breathe is 79+% N2.

Dude it works. I'm not sure if this stuff is 100% but the benefits are very noticeable on a car.

I heard if you use helium it reduces unsprung weight.

My dealer puts it in the new bikes, many pros and conns about this but just plain air works just fine.

The OP's statement may seem a little far fetched and come off as snake oil but it actually does make a difference.

I worked at an auto shop that had the nitrogen system and the owner made all of us put it in all of our vehicles. To my surprise, the stuff actually works and it really does do all of the things that it claims to do. Oddly enough, it actually makes your car ride noticeably smoother.

to the OP, it's been almost 10 years since i've dealt with the stuff so I completely forgot all about it. I would suggest putting it in and I might just try to find a shop that can do it for me today.

SafetyMan, yes the air we breath is 79%+ nitrogen, in order to provide any benefit it has to be at 96% or 97% or higher. I suggest you try it out and see for your self. Worst case, you spend a little more money for some "high priced air".

The reason for nitrogen in tires is its dryer than air which makes the tire pressure more stable over all heat ranges. water expands at uncontrollable rates. So in a race car wher a 1/2 psi can really change the handling of a car at high temps, it's important. NASCAR teams also use nitrogen dryers, to get even more water out. Your tire is just a spring so changing tire psi is like changing a shock spring. Just keep your tires properly inflated and air will be just as good for most Applications.

My dealer had N2 in my tires when I bought my FLHXS last April. Pressure has not changed since I've owned it. On my Softail I had before I really had to watch during the cold temp months.
