When I bought my new 09 Road King the guys at the dealership still subscribed to the "skate" theory against synthetic oil. (Bearings not rotating and going bad cause oil too slick) Was in St. Louis stop and go traffic on a hot day and that non-synthetic seemed too hot when I checked it. I read a two part article in American Iron that discussed skate theory as false.
Switched to Mobil 1 V-twin. My dealership accidentally put Dino back in and I could honestly tell. FYI found out it is also OK to go with synthetic during break-in if you want.

Any name brand dino or synthetic 20/50 is fine. But if you want real performance, go with Amsoil. That stuff is magic. You'll get an increase of 15 HP & 22 ft lbs of torque. Plus, it will sound better & ride better.

LOL, I heard that maybe ten plus years ago. Bearings failed because the oil was too slippery? The logic in that self defeating statement eludes me.

Any how, the dealer I go to told me not to use Syn 3 unless I wanted to amplify any mechanical noise from the engine. I like synthetics but if there is no extended oil change cycle why waste money? I've given up over-maintaining my vehicles. The precision in engine building today along with precise fuel delivery almost makes it a waste of time and money.

This doesn't apply to heavily modified engines.

Just my $.02 worth of fuel on the fire......

Simple really, Any oil is better than No oil, other than that not much difference in modern syn motorcycle oils, but a lot of opinions/advertising . As you see here

If you use Amsoil, chicks will fawn over you like you were a rock star. I had to pass, my GF is the jealous type.

I use 3 in 1 oil, it worked on my Grandma's sewing machine, it's good enough for me.
