Talking Khrome Werks 2+2 Narrow Sweeper BarS Install

Bike: 2015 Ultra Limited

Bars: Khrome Werks 1" 2+2 Chrome Narrow Sweeper Handlebar with ETC for 2008-2015 Harley-Davidson Touring models with Bat Wing fairings PN: 300519
Drag Specialties PN: 0601-2858

Update 4/1/16: Phat Performance Parts is selling these bars for $81
These bars were purchased from Dennis Kirk

Bars cost under $100
HD Switch Wire Extension Kit-69200034 from Kutter HD $25
Total cost of parts less then $150

I just wanted to share my experience installing and riding with these bars. I won't go into to many installation details because there are several very good posts (which I used) on the installation and wiring. Here are two very good ones by bpd138 and JT_HD .

These bars measure only 1/2" wider than the stock bars compared to the original Sweeper Bars that are about 3" wider then the stock bars.

These bars do mate up with the indents in the 2014-2015 fairing perfectly.
These bars do allow your wrists to be straight.
No new brake or hydraulic clutch lines are needed.
TGS (Twist Grip Sensor) and heated grip wires fit fine.

Before the installation I did remove the gas tank. It only takes 5 or 10 minutes and makes it easier to remove the switch panel without removing the ignition switch. And it makes it easy to get to all the wiring behind the switch panel and under the fairing.

While installing these bars I did run the switch control wires internally. There was no more then 2" of wire left extending outside the bottom of the bars after they were run. I did use the wire extension kit listed above and would not have wanted to do this without them.

On the left side, the control switch connector had to be removed from the stock wires. They will not fit through the small hole in the bars. The headed grip connector passed through the end of the bars no problem.

On the right side, the control switch connectors and the TGS (Twist Grip Sensor) connector have to be removed. These will not fit through the small hole in the bars. The green TGS connector and headed grip connector will fit through the end of the bars but do not pass through the top curve in the bars easily. I cut and soldered the two heated grip wires to get rid of that connector.

Using a small screwdriver through the control switch wire hole I had to push the green connector passed the top curve in the bars. Then ran the control switch wires. I didn't think they would pass the green connector as easily as they did, but they did. The HD replacement Twist Grip Sensor PN 32310-08 is another option.

Before reinstalling the connectors I ran some shrink wrap over each set of wires (except for the TGS wires) where they come out the bottom hole in the bars for added protection.

The brake line fit fine. Just needed to slightly loosen the banjo bolt to adjust the line to match the bars better.

The Hydraulic clutch line was snug. I did enlarge the opening in the switch plate where the bars and line go through to make more room for the line. Adjusted the line on this side to match the bars also.

Took the bike for a short test ride to make sure everything worked.
All is I can say is WOW! These bars feel high, but I know there not. Most likely because the stock bars are so low. My wrists are straight and just above my elbows with elbows slightly bent. And that's with the adjustable backrest all the way back.

I'll be putting miles on it this weekend and will know better how they feel. And if my thumbs fall a sleep like they did on the stock bars.

Here is a pic of the switch panel mod. It's hard to tell anything was done.

Here are the bar specs.

Looks like those should have been the stock Harley bars. I think everyone on here can agree the stock bars are too low and twist your wrist too much. They look pretty snazzy on your bike. Nice job!

Thanks guys. The wrist angle and added height is what I was looking for. The internal wiring does make the job look better and allows room to add clamps to the bars for different accessory's, like cup holder.

Good question. The clutch line under the fairing has a protector around it. When the line is pulled out the line, line protector and bars have to fit that space. With the extra thickness the left switch panel screw did not want to line up, which created a gap between the panel under the radio. So rather than force everything and put that much pressure on the line I filed and sanded some material from the left opening in the switch panel. These pic may help show better what I'm talking about.

I just installed a set on a friends 2013 limited. Internal wiring and heated grips was a job. Very comfortable and he loves them.

You are correct, the internal wiring and heated grips take up most of the time. I didn't mind the wiring, but the left heated grip insert was very difficult going back in. I had to use some lube to slide it back in without braking something.
Otherwise the job would be fairly simple. But who want's to stop a simple!!!

Best thread for these bars so far. As a matter of fact, your side by side comparison pictures have helped me more than any other handlebar thread I've looked at!! Thanks!!
