Default Where to mount GoPro?

14 FLHTK

Looking for a spot to mount a GoPro... any suggestions?

I'm thinking maybe a RAM mount, under the mirror, right side, like I have on the left for my PV2.

But I'd also like to do something a bit more creative, different perspective, if you will.

just a suggestion for ideas as I have looked. search eBay for GoPro mounts there are some ideas for the Harley on there. I have actually made some different kinds of mounts at work. I'm working on one that will swivel and still be fairly stable I don't have it perfected but I'm using spring tension.

Guys, with all the mounts go-pro makes I would think your best bet would be go directly to the go-pro site. I think that the helmet itself is one of the best spots to put a cam mount. This way the Cam captures exactly what you see. Well, at least that's where I like it. Might also check out an outdoor adventure store or off road vehicle store. By me we have XTREME MACHINES....... Dirt bikes, quads, snowmobile's and road bikes and they also carry go pro's with all the different mounts.

I'm sure these are very obvious things I pointed out but I know for me, sometimes it's the obvious things that I overlook.

Good luck

On my '09 I had a ram mount on the left side of the bars and it stuck up just over the fairing but haven't been able to mount it on the 14 limited yet but just changed bars so I am going to try it again. I have a buddy with a softtail and he has a mount that he rigged on the highway peg, the video he shot going through one of the canyons we like to ride was pretty awesome from that low point of view.

I've use a suction cup mount designed for curved surfaces. It has three small suction cups instead of the bigger GoPro version. I stick it on the helmet with a safety loop through the helmet strap. It's never fallen off, but "just in case". Helmet mounted videos can make people seasick if you turn your head a lot, like checking for traffic at an intersection.
I also use a GoPro roll bar mount on the crash bar. Both mounts work well to eliminate vibration. You can mix it up by pointing the camera backwards, especially when riding with a group. Here's a video I did this Summer if you want to see it.

I put my camera on top of a series of mounts from here: http://www.wizmount.com/products/products-overview/

They were bolted onto the chrome bars on the lid of the Tour Pack.

I take a lot of videos for my website: http://www.maryland-motorcycling.com

Nothing too fancy, just "purpose" videos of roads and towns people will see when they take various routes listed on the site. I ride a 2010 FLSTC with a removable windshield.

I use a GoPro Hero2 and have tried several mounting positions. I finally settled on the left handlebar where the camera sits right next to the windshield but not behind it. East to turn on/off while sitting idle.

I tried the GoPro mounts in various configurations, but they were too fragile and allowed for a lot of vibration. I settled on Ram mounts a few years ago which are much more solid. I would recommend mounting your GoPro up high enough so you can still capture good video when riding over bridges, etc.

As for being creative...I have thought (and have had people suggest) using two cameras. I think that would be cool but I'm too friggin' lazy to do all that editing. Will probably do that when I retire and have more time. Then again, maybe I'm just kidding myself.
