I've rigged nylon coated steel fishing leader to mine... but still waiting on the misty weather to clear to try it out...

If you look REALLY hard at the guardrail on the left at 3:47 the words "Jared's Ditch" are painted in orange....

That's where the entrance to the American Legion Post is.

I might have painted that there....

There is a story behind that... involving my best friend Jared...

I agree, I've got mine tethered with a small bungee type cord. You can see it in my second picture on post #26. I've never had to be thankful it's there but after losing (destroying) a GPS at 60 mph I'm not taking a chance.

Just make sure your tether is short enough to prevent the camera from landing on the tank/

I mounted mine, using the GoPro bar mount on the bars in front of my side bags. It gives a very unique view of the ride. I like the other options that folks have tried on the front of the bike, I just like the very low views and play around with different angles.

Suction cup mount on the fairing pick up a lot of vibration especially when down shifting.

I know you can tether, but there is still that 20 or 30 seconds of it bouncing around on the paint while you get shut down on the side of the road to fix it...

Maybe it's not a problem, just what I see my luck bringing.
I've never used the suction cup on my bike, but I've used it to mount my GoPro on the bow of my kayak in Class III rapids and I've never had a problem with it coming off.

Two different worlds.

The first thing that comes to mind is moisture. Keeping a suction cup moist will promote a good seal to the vacuum.

The second is constant vibration on a bike.

The third is constant wind coupled with the vibration.

It may work perfectly on a motorcycle.... but I'm still not putting one on my paint.

I do appreciate the vote of confidence!!!

I agree with your conclusion, however, the Ram suction cup mount states, not to moisten the cup.
