The pig looks like a good solution.

Does it work with both synthetic and dino oil?

the best thing i have found is to cut an anti-freeze jug, lenghtwise.

leave the handle & the spout on
cut the long edge the same width as the short edge, so they make a V.

then cut the bottom off.

the filter slips in where the bottom was, and the V lays under the filter.

use the handle to move it around, can take lid off to drain it out if you want.

i got pics somewhere, but it works great.

Default Oil Filter

I like the remote filter from Moore sensible products I have seen here on this post , I think that is a good idea I also get some oil spillage all over seems no mater how hard I try some spills, and the thing that gets me harley has all the wires for the voltage regulator and crank sensor and stuff right under the filter . one day they may realize they can put a remote filter on their bikes, or move the wires. but then they would not break down or have electrical problems.....
Maybe one day It took them 100 years to make a saddle bag you can open and close with one finger......

I found this on line and it took about 30 minutes to install.

The adapter goes on where the filter use to mount and can be used with the aftermarket oil cooler.

How solid is the mounting behind the primary? Is there a risk of scraping the filter during left turns? How good are the hoses and connections?

Hvac,

I answered your questions here, but am editing this and will PM instead. I'm trying to find the right balance between providing good info without playing salesman or whatever.

My next oil change I'm going to put some aluminium foil under the filter, followed by a layer of paper towels, followed by a piece of cardboard cut from a beer case. I'm going to cut an anti freeze bottle lengthwise and use it to funnel oil into a Big Gulp cup which is inside a zip lock bag. After the filter is off I'm going to change to a remote filter mounted back by my primary.

You just can't be too careful when it comes to oil.
