Default Stage 1 or not to stage 1? That is the question?

So last bike I installed a stage 1 kit SE heavy breather full Vance and Hines exhaust and tuner basically just to rid myself of the heat on the right leg. The sound was nice and performance was a plus but not the primary reason. With new bike being a wet head and not noticing the same level of heat. Should I do the stage one again? Perhaps just slip ons? Or save the coin for something else like an upgraded boom system?

I added the SE street cannons with SE air cleaner and stage one flash to my 14 Limited. Very happy with the sound and performance. Someday I may upgrade my SE stage one flash to a aftermarket flash tuner, seems to be the best way to go.

Only you can decide if you want to spend the money.

Is it worth it?

I had the same internal debate as you, but ended up going with the same set up as Scottt (except I did my tune with the SE Super Tuner). I am glad I did it. More grins per mile.

I stayed stock. I like the OEM air filter cover, nice solid chromed steel and nicely shaped. Don't care for the look of exposed air filter pleats.

I have 11,000 miles on my 2014 limited. Left it completely stock. Never had a problem with engine heat or power. My last two bikes I did a complete new exhaust and stage 1. This bike just does not need it.

I did the stage 1 on my 12 Limited but am leaving my 14 stock except a pair of slip on's off a 13 CVO Ultra Classic I got off eBay for $149. Look better and a little deeper sound without being louder. There baffles are longer with twice the holes so I assume they flow better.

Here's mine with the Stage 1, before and after I blacked it.

SE Stage 1 air cleaner kit, Rush True Duals, PV2.

There are a few options out there that use your stock heat shields as well, so the stock look remains.

Dave, The "standard" SE air cleaner set-up keeps the stock air filter cover and there a no exposed filter pleats.
