Default 21 vs 19 WHEEL

I have a 2014 streetglide special and I'm looking at putting a set of wheels on it. I like the looks of the 21 but not enough to give up very much ride ability low or high speed. Love the way the bike rides now. I know they have also had abs light issues but not sure about with a 21. Would like to here from someone who has had both about the difference in ride. Thanks

Between a 19 and a 21 the ride isn't so much what suffers. It's how tippy the bike feels with a 21 on the front. The fix is to lower the front, which then negatively impacts ride quality.

The Progressive drop-in cartridges seem to ride pretty good with a 21, but it is on the "sporty" side of things. Matches well with the Arnott Bilstein setup in the rear.

Thanks. The trippy feeling is what I'm wanting to avoid. Going to look at some wheel options of the same size.

In regards to ABS yes you will have light issue with 21 but you can resolve it with putting 17 inch rear wheel to balance it out.

I disagree on both points above. I run a 21", I have run an 18 and 19 as well. The only way I feel tippy is if I drink too much and I don't drink so that is not an issue for me.

The difference in actual height between a 19 and 21" wheel is very minimal. No need to lower the front end as I have not and will not. The myth that the bike is harder to steer with a 21 is a fallacy. I am not sure who created this but probably the people who make and sell the lowering kits.

You can run a 21" front on your bike with the right tire without doing a matching rear wheel as well. You will also need a set of brackets to raise the stock fender to accommodate the 21" wheel as the fender on 14 and 15 models sits lower than on previous year bikes.

Here is a Pic of my Old 09 SG...21"...I had the Harley Heavy Springs installed and it lowered the front 1"...I installed a matching 17" rear wheel....6.25 width and a 200 rear tire.....it rode like Stock....No Issues at low speed....and I could run the interstate at 80 mph ...no Hands and track straight as an arrow....

I have a 14 limited with 21 in front and 17 in back lowered 1" front and rear with progressive suspension. Handles great over 20 MPH below that the bars will wobble if I take my hands off. Low speed "parking lot" tight turns are the same. I would have to say it might even have a "crisper" handling feeling in the twisties. Only complaint would be the low speed wobble but I'm used to it now.

Low speed driving 10-25 MPH I get a wobble if I take my hands off the bars. Above 25 feels great and I think the bike handles better and feels crisper in the twisties.

Do you have abs on this? Just wondering how it affects the abs.

A low speed wobble could be your steering head bearings or related to tire pressure probably. Not sure what brand tires you are using but use the recommended max PSI listed on the side of the tire.

Just my suggestions to try and help with an issue. My experience is that adding a slightly larger wheel can shine a light on deficiencies with a bike more so than with the stock wheels on occasion.

When I put a 21" on the front of my 13 Road Glide I felt a wobble in the front end. I did a little research and realized that the steering head bearings needed to be greased (they took over a tube of grease) and tightened which took care of my "problem." It turns out that Harley had not been torquing the steering head properly at the factory and this has been a well known issue for a long time.

I am sure your 14 is under warranty so take it to the dealer and let them do it.
