Do I need AC and download?

I was in the dealer yesterday lining up what few parts I was going to take on day of delivery in order to get that whopping 10% discount. I made mention that I was going to install my own FM head pipe and then bring the bike back to the dealer after first of the year for a tuner, stage 1 air, dyno and tune. (they run a 20% parts and service special in the winter) Parts guy........I'll repeat that, PARTS guy, said I should not ride the bike with the catless header and no tune. He said don't even ride the bike to the dealer for the tune, said bring it over on a trailer........Parts guy.

First you can usually get 20% off parts at kutterharleyonline anytime and free shipping if you spend over $100.
Second, I would recommend calling FM and talking to their tech folks. Very knowledgeable and no sales pressure. Having said that you should consider FM's power package which includes header, slip-ons, AC and tuner. I was getting 84 hp and 103 tq with that setup and the bike ran great.

Yeah, the only part I added to the bike upon delivery was saddlebag lid paint guard. A few things will be after first of the year to snare their 20% off, most everything else will be kutter's or surdyke.
FM actually had the best price on V&H mufflers, they arrived today. I don't think it will make much difference. The bike's ship date is still a month out and by the time I actually get my hands on it there will be very little riding season left up here. I'll put the FM pipe on after season is over and they will pick up and deliver bike for tuner and dyno tune in the winter.
I am not concerned with dyno numbers. I just want the bike to run as cool and as well as it can.

2014 SGS with 4" Rinehart pipes. Everything else on motor is standard. During 1K service, tech explained a need for the additional to the tune of $700. Are they really needed?
For these bikes, it's advertised by sales that added pipes don't necessarily require a download. Now that the bike is purchased, the story changes a bit.
Don't mind spending money if it's worth it, but also don't want to be taken advantage of.

A Power Vision Package that you can see HERE is going to be hundreds less than the $700 from the dealer, it is also going to be MUCH more beneficial than a tune from the dealer.
Below is a chart that gives an idea of how much better it will run-
