Put dash cam on bike
I have dash cams in my truck and my wife's car, they sometimes capture some interesting stuff. I wanted to put one on my bike but was having some difficulty finding a weatherproof one.
Well, to make a long story longer, I final found this one. I bought it at Spytech.com for $129.00 (no, I don't work for them.) It comes with everything you need.
1. Found good location for camera.
2. Took outer fairing off
3. Mounted camera, looped and zip-tied cable coming from camera
4. Put cable through the back of the cubby by making a small, HDMI cable end sized hole in the back of the cubby,.
5. Put cable through, connected it to "guts"
6. Took power cable and ran it to 12v power supply.
7. Made small 'groove' in exterior cubby frame so door would close when cable is running into it.
8. Silicone sealed hole I made in back of cubby
9. Put everything back together.
Took about 15 minutes.
This is a 1080p (also 720p if you want, also still pictures and will sense movement on your bike when you are not there and take pictures). It uses up to a 32gb micro sd card. It will loop record (what I do), record 1 continuous movie until SD is full, or take still pictures every 3 seconds, or to whatever time you set it to.
It is auto-on, auto-off, set and forget. Just make sure you have the little nub on the camera UP, or your first set of videos will come out upside down! DAMHIKT.
The movies look GREAT (even upside down!)
Camera mounted:
Wire going into fairing:
"Guts" of camera just outside USB cubby on inner fairing:
Cubby closed:
Wiring to fairing 12v power supply on right hand side:
This is in 12v outlet and the 'guts' plugs into this:
