Default Removing Complete Fork Assy. 2014

On the new models, do you have to remove the top cap before removing the fork assembly? I don't have it torn apart right now so, without seeing things, I was wondering what I will be encountering.

I read somewhere that the pinch bolts were all that needed to be loosened and it will all slide out. Is this true?

Thanks.

Yep. loosen the upper pinch bolts but don't remove and hold onto fork slider and loosen lower pinch bolts, then slide the fork tube out. Manual also says if necessary remove the slider covers.

Top caps are 19mm hex and flit flush - remove the ignition switch cover and you'll have access to the pinch bolts.

Curious, what are you doing to front end?

Yep, forks are going to powdercoater. That was much easier than I thought. I initially figured the entire fairing would have to come off but nope, just the switch cover. 3 allen bolts and they're off.

The bike is tore down again and I'm on my 2nd batch of stuff to coat. The only things left to remove are the rocker covers and pushrod stuff. I'm going to do some reading but I might have someone else do that work. That's what I said about the forks too though.

Thanks for the help guys.
