Enter Pin to start bike...
I went out to my bike in the garage and wanted to check something on the radio setup. I turned the ignition switch and a message came up asking for the PIN.
I realized I didn't have the key fob with me and that got me to wonder...I was never told what the PIN was or even if it had one.
Do these bikes have a generic PIN set at the factory, or do the dealers put their own code in when the do the set up and delivery?

I just followed the instructions in the manual and set them all up with no problems.

Your dealer has to enter the code for you. You don't have to have the security entered. I bought a 1 year old used bike and it was not activated when I bought it.
If it is asking for a PIN, then I would assume the dealer set a code. I would call him first.
Our dealer automatically enters your birthday as a code.
I told him no....and gave him a number that is easier for me to remember (and easier to enter) (don't want a bunch of 8 or 9 for the code, too much pressing)

Owner's Manual tells you how to change the PIN regardless of the current code. As long as you have the FOB close, go by the instructions in the manual under "CHANGING THE PIN" and you will see the current PIN in the odometer window. No need to figure out what it is or who programmed what. No dealer or anyone else is needed. With the FOB present and your owner's manual, it's easy to change to whatever you want.

I was stranded last fall with my new '14 Ultra when the alarm went off and even with the key fob it wouldn't shut off. I called the dealer and found out the factory code set for the bike is the last 5 digits of the serial number. If one of these is a zero (like mine) substitute a 1 in it' s place. Worked like a charm, and right then I changed it to a personal one.
