We knew Harley-Davidsons were rugged, but this bike’s incredible story still surprised us.

Sean Kerr operates SRK Cycles, a motorcycle dealership in Pennsylvania. He maintains a YouTube channel for the dealership, titled Bikes and Beards.

In this video, he shares the story of his incredible 100,000 mile 2008 CVO Road King. Believe it or not, this is the second super-high-mileage Road King he’s owned. Previously, Kerr had owned a 2003 Anniversary Road King with a whopping 117,000 miles.

As Kerr explains, he wasn’t much of a Harley-Davidson guy at first. The Road King was the bike that made him a fan of the brand. “It kind of fits my personality. I don’t need a fairing, I don’t need a stereo, I don’t need any of that.”

The Road King is actually very helpful to Kerr at work. When he’s selling a Harley-Davidson with 40 or 50 thousand miles on it, he can point to his as an example of how long they can last when they’re maintained.

The story behind Kerr’s Road King is very interesting. He purchased the bike from a widow of a man who only rode it once a year. However, that one ride would last for two months.

Given the condition of the bike, combined with its incredible story, Kerr decided to keep the bike for himself. He missed his old 2003 Road King.

When he called up the previous owner to tell her, she was overjoyed. “People like to know that it’s gonna get used, and it’s gonna get loved, and it’s gonna get treated properly.” Anyone who has sold a bike they cared about understands this feeling completely.

That’s not to say that the bike has been entirely trouble-free under Kerr’s ownership. On a ride to Georgia, the lights spontaneously stopped working as a result of a bad relay. A shifter shaft seal failed on the same trip, causing the bike to leak oil.

Still, Kerr plans on fixing up the bike and keeping it. Kerr says, “I want to see what it does on the dyno.” The final frontier? He wants to do an iron butt on this ride — and find another Harley with a quarter of a million miles on it this time.
