To say that it’s been a long trip for Ikuo Yokoyama’s Softail Night Train would be a colossal understatement.

After the devastating Tsunami that swept across Japan, the bike floated in a shipping container across the pacific ocean to a beach on British Columbia where it was found by one Peter Mark. He got in contact with Harley and eventually found the owner in Japan.

After discovering that the owner was still alive, Harley Davidson offered to restore the bike for him. Yokoyama declined, and asked that it kept as a memorial for those who were not as lucky as himself. Although Yokoyama survived the disaster, he lost his home and members of his family.

Now, the bike has been placed under glass in the Harley-Davidson museum in Milwaukee. As per Yokoyama’s request, it remains un-restored and largely untouched.
