Throwback Harley-Davidson Ad – Knights of the Highway

Is this the beginning of the Harley-Davidson outlaw image? Probably not but it is certainly fun to think about being a rip snorting rider and daring thrill hunter. Welcome to Throwback Thursday.

Over the course of the last hundred plus years motorcycles have been compared with horses most often. We are cowboys, or in this case knights riding our trusty steeds everywhere and anywhere. It’s not just marketing speak.

The correlation between the motorcycle and the horse are just too easy. Both are primarily designed for the rider, we use saddle bags, ride them in the same manner. Legs splayed as we straddle the beating heart of the animal and machine. They both can have some pretty keen personalities and idiosyncrasies that endear them to us.
