Crazy 2,000 cc Dyna Custom Is Nicknamed 'Homemade Sin'

Creeator describes it as ‘ugly,’ but for those who like a Harley built for unholy speed, it’s beautiful.

We are a little past those days when it seemed like every motorcycle maker wanted the prestige of sporting the biggest motorcycle engine in the world. Remember the Kawasaki Vulcan or the Dodge Tomahawk Superbike Well, it’s still eye-catching as hell when you see a bike that meets or exceeds that mystical 2,000 cubic centimeter mark. Especially when an engine that size is crammed into a lightweight Harley Dyna custom.

Well folks, here it is: A 2013 Harley Davidson Dyna with a 2,032cc engine. It’s nicknamed “Homemade Sin” by its Portland, Oregon-based maker, Icon 1000.

Unholy Speed

Not surprisingly, the bike in its current state does not look much like its bone-stock former self. The company that made it describes it as “ugly,” but to the guys who like their motorcycles to look like they’re built for unholy speed, it’s beautiful.

The first big change is obvious: an S&S T-124 engine, which puts out 128 horsepower and 134 foot/pounds of torque. It’s one of S&S’ most popular engines; if you go to their web site you’ll find they’re sold out.

Then the makers added some more bad-ass S&S parts, like the free-flowing air filter, custom headers and exhaust. The Portland makers also added a custom clutch and a belt-drive system.

Beast Mode Swingarm

They replaced the front suspension with USD fat forks borrowed off a Ducati Monster. Nitron suspension springs and a custom triple clamp steady the fork legs at three points. USD stands for upside down; they’re designed for better handling and are frequently found on racing bikes.

The rear end sports a Roaring Toyz beast mode swingarm and Nitron Racing Shocks.

The bike has a hodgepodge of other parts, like a repurposed Honda Supersport tank, and a headlight that comes from a 1969 Honda Dawn.

Nitron Shock Absorbers

Stock Dynas in 2013 weighed in at the mid-600 pound range and the builders made this custom even lighter by putting in the lighter swingarm with twin Nitron shock absorbers.

The wheels are vintage 16-inch alloy and the stopping power for all this power comes from race-spec EBC rotors.

Throw some 3-D graphics on there, and you have a very distinctive-looking speed bike that is still, technically, a Harley Davidson.

Faster Than the FXDR?

So, how fast will it go? The company doesn’t release any figures and the bike obviously is not street legal.

Perhaps the best comparison is HD’s own FXDR 114. The FXDR, introduced in 2016 but since dropped from HD’s lineup, is powered by a 1,868cc Milwaukee 8 engine, and weighs 668 pounds in running order.

It puts out 90 horsepower and 119 foot/pounds of torque. It goes from 0-60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds and has been clocked at 160 mph.

Fastest Harleys

Here’s how the Motor Company described its FXDR: “Like a drag racer crossed with a fighter jet.”

Here’s how Icon 1000 describes its Homemade Sin: “As ugly as Homemade Sin and twice as fast.”

And since we’re talking about fast Harley Davidsons, how about this one for second fastest stock Harley: The electric Livewire goes from 0-60 in 3 seconds flat.
