As Harley-Davidson enthusiasts, our biggest fear is undoubtedly getting into a motorcycle accident. With our fellow motorists often blind to anything on two wheels, it’s a very real threat. And oftentimes, things can go wrong even if it isn’t someone else’s fault. With nothing protecting us, save for maybe a helmet and some leather, the results can be disastrous. To say the least.

That’s why the rider you see in this Good Morning America segment is so incredibly lucky. The man, who understandably wishes to only go by Willy, took a terrifying dive off a rocky cliff in Angeles National Forest in Arcadia, California. Willy and his friend David Park were cruising along when he suddenly lost control and got airborne before tumbling down the cliff.

‘Once he heals up he said he’s going to continue riding motorcycles, but I don’t think he’s going to be coming back up here anytime soon.’

Park, who captured the entire incident on his GoPro, feared the worst. Thankfully, a random tree broke the motorcycles fall as Willy continued to tumble down the hill. So, at least there wasn’t the threat of the bike landing on him, and it saved the motorcycle from a few extra scratches.

Fortunately, another motorcyclist was able to call 911 after Park realized that his cell wasn’t getting reception.

“I thought he was dead,” Park told ABC News. “I don’t know what’s down there, maybe it’s a 50-foot drop, maybe there’s rocks down there, I don’t know what’s down there.” But remarkably, Willy suffered only a fractured shoulder and was released from the hospital shortly afterward.

It’s the best possible outcome considering how bad things look on film. And for his part, Willy isn’t about to give up riding even though things could have turned out much worse.

“Willy’s got a pretty strong spirit,” says Park. “Once he heals up he said he’s going to continue riding motorcycles, but I don’t think he’s going to be coming back up here anytime soon.”
