Spring Fever: Check Those Fluids!

Now to your fluids. There’s much debate over oil and types and what you should use and blah blah blah. Insert long flaming thread here.

Me? I’m the type that changes the oil in the spring, and then rides the season on that oil change. If I was ever to go over 10K in a single season, I would then change the oil again. I use 20w50 in the motor and primary, and Redline in the transmission. Harley says it’s ok to use 20w50 in all three places, but I prefer the transmission fluid to have a different color–it makes it much easier to identify a leak that way. For more suggestions–or arguments, whichever you prefer–refer to the forum for the many, many oil discussions which have occurred over the years.

And remember, refer to your owner’s manual for proper fluid changing procedures.
