Salty Tesla Driver Damn Near Ruined This Biker’s Life
Here’s a simple reminder of a California fact: Motorcyclists are 100 percent allowed to split lanes. This is not a new thing. The law neither expressly says it is legal or illegal, which means it is a rider’s fair right to do it, despite every other state’s legislation saying it’s illegal. Authorities even published “guidelines” for lane-splitting. Yet, video after video continues to show drivers in their car thrones getting upset when they see motorcycles do it. This is another example.
The idiocy occurred on the entrance ramp to Highway 85 near San Jose, Calif. The motorcyclist has a clear lane-split up to the front of the traffic pack at the light, even passing a cop on the way (again, IT’S LEGAL). When he gets to the light, he pulls up next to a Tesla Model S on his left. The light turns green, and the motorcycle speeds ahead, as motorcycles and their superior acceleration usually do. Then, nearing the point of merging, the Model S guns it, and cuts right in front of the motorcyclist. The Tesla not only almost pummels the motorcycle, but almost rear ends the car in front of him in the left lane, as well. He then brake checks the motorcycle, and even rolls down his window to yell at him. This is where the motorcycle makes his mistake.
It’s natural to be extremely hot after something like that, but it’s FAR better to let that jackass drive away and get his plate to report. Instead, the motorcycle driver puts himself in between the Tesla on his right and merging traffic on the left, all while trying to talk shit to the Tesla driver. He’s only making the situation worse and putting himself in more danger. Try to keep a cool head, if something like this happens to you.
One more reminder: Just because somebody does something stupid and put you in danger on your motorcycle doesn’t give you the right to do something idiotic like destroy a piece of that car.
