Riders – That One Guy

By -

HDForums-LETHAL-WEAPON-PESCIYou know the guy I am talking about, shows up at every event, talks to everyone and has stories to tell. The problem with this guy is they stories are all fake, he never shows up on a motorcycle, and he wasn’t in any of the conversations he jumped into.

I tend to be a people person, easy to talk to, friendly, and I don’t discriminate in my conversation partners. That One Guy however just gets to me.

Never Has a Motorcycle

HDForums-moto-leatherNo matter where you are meeting this “rider” never shows up with a motorcycle. Plenty of excuses to go around. Usually it’s in the shop for another performance modification to make it go faster. Just wasn’t enough power for him. His last drag race he almost lost and wanted to make sure that didn’t happen again. The next time he tells the story he won by two more bike lengths but felt a little more top end was needed.

Wild Horsepower and Performance Claims

HDForums-South Park-HarleysSpecial grind cams with specs that would never be able to run in any engine. Custom exhaust, super special tires, prototype fuel injection, and a super expensive paint round out the list of items that no one else has ever seen. Oddly though there will be one guy who thinks he saw it once and it was nice. This accidental accomplice only furthers the stories being told and does nothing to slow “That One Guy’s” roll.

Don’t forget that it will wheelie in any gear and he has to be careful not to loop it whiners he twists the throttle.

Out Corners Sport Bikes

HDForums-Sport Bike-CruiserLet’s get a few things out of the way. As good as our bikes handle they don’t have the lean angle or mechanical grip of a sport bike. With that we know that there are some pretty bad riders out there and we definitely can embarrass our fair share of riders on the road.

Our teller of tall tales passes everyone. There has never been a rider faster on any road. He’ll show you the next time when he has his bike. Whenever that might be.

No Escape

This is the worst. No matter the subject, how far you move away from the group, or how many other people come up and start a conversation with you – you can’t escape. Like a puppy after you pet it, or a cat who knows you don’t like cats, they follow you wherever you go. There is no rhyme nor reason, they don’t know you, there are other people to talk to, and you have done your best to get away. Eventually they tell you they have to go and make it seem like you were the inconvenience. Blissful peace is at hand. It’s only then that you realize you have no one to talk to, the event is almost over and you missed most of the things you wanted to see.

So the next time you go to an event or meet, watch for that guy. Make sure to run the other way or they might just latch on to you!
