Replace your Harley Davidson’s Battery

Having a good quality Harley Davidson battery in your bike
from the same manufacturer is one of the most crucial elements
responsible for keeping your vehicle running properly and safely.
Without a reliable battery, you won’t have a steady engine power source.
Your bike may be prone to stalling out and shutting off, or you may
find that it becomes increasingly difficult to start it at all when it’s
not already on. While batteries are designed to last for many many
years, it’s also possible that there could be some malfunction with your
Harley Davidson batter which would cause you to lose power over the
course of several years or even months. If you notice any unusual
symptoms in your bike, it’s a good idea to check and see that the

Step 1 — Gather Your Materials

You’ll need the following materials in order to replace the battery on the Harley Davidson:

• Replacement battery that matches the existing one in the bike
• Screwdriver set
• Wire brushes
• Sponge and water

Step 2 — Check the Battery Size

It’s vitally important that the battery you have is the correct size.
There are a wide range of different sizes of batteries amongst
different Harley Davidson bikes, and it’s crucial that you purchase
exactly the right one for your specific model. If you have any

Step 3 — Remove the Terminals and Clean the Battery Casing

Turn off the engine before you attempt to touch or remove the
battery. Next, when the battery and the engine have cooled, remove the
negative terminal from the battery first. Then, remove the positive
terminal as well. You can then use your wire brushes to clean off any
corrosion or other debris that may have accumulated in the battery
casing area.

Step 4 — Remove and Replace the Battery

Next, you’ll need to carefully remove the battery. In some models of
Harley Davidson, the battery may be secured in place with screws and
various bolts. A screwdriver set should help you to be able to better
access the battery and to remove it in these cases. Gently lift the
battery up out of the casing by hand. This is also a good opportunity to
clean the inside of the casing with a sponge and water, if you’d like.

Subsequently, you’ll need to install the new batter in place of the
old one. Wait until the casing is completely dry and clean in order to
do this. Place the battery in and screw in any pieces that may have
connected it or held in in place. Check on the battery power and
connectivity before you attempt to turn on the motorcycle once again.
