Over the last couple of days we have featured two very well done Street 750 customs. We have also shown a stunt video with a Street 500 and our friends at Ill conduct.

Harley is definitely pushing these models to appeal to a different demographic and new riders. It makes sense to continue to expand your market for new bikes and to attract more riders to your brand. A lot of the media has compared this bike to the Sportster, or the new Indian Scout, or every metric cruiser on the market. They are missing the point. These bikes aren’t designed to compete with those bikes in the way most people expect. We are a firm believer that these bikes are built to get people on a HD at a lower price and still offer all of the customization options you expect. They aren’t just entry level bikes to get you on a bigger bike.

Here’s why we believe this: Harley would not go out of their way to send bikes all over the world to be customized if the only reason these bikes existed were for Riders Edge classes and newbies. They would however do that to showcase everything that can be done to them, how well they respond to modifications, and a side bonus is if these succeed it opens the door for the inevitability of liquid cooling on more models. If they fail it’s a loss but it does not affect the big name lines, and they can still sell them overseas and turn a profit.

I have to admit that I am a fan of both of these models. I think they are great bikes with some serious custom options already out there and some really great practicality and fun. Looking at the last two days of customs just makes me think they have a success story on their hands even more.

Which raises our question. What do you think of the Street line of motorcycles? Comment below or in the forums…

Here are those two customs again so you can enjoy them as much as we do.
