Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Revival

Earlier this year, Harley-Davidson teased a new bike — and now we know it’ll be an Electra Glide Revival.

Back in January, the intriguing image above was part of Harley-Davidson’s 2021 model launch presentation. Now at the time, there wasn’t any other info on the machine. But in February, a Revival model was listed in the MoCo’s annual filing with the Environmental Protection Agency’s, indicating that something wearing the name would be heading to showrooms. Well, thanks to our friends over at Motorcycle, we now know the tank belongs to the Electra Glide Revival, and it will be the first of a new Icons series of bikes.

Here’s the — albeit brief — official word from Harley-Davidson CEO Jochen Zeitz: “Icons will be extraordinary adaptations of production motorcycles which look to our storied past and bright future.”

Overall, the launching of the Icons series dovetails nicely with Harley’s recent decision to focus on large, expensive cruiser bikes. And while there are some folks, including yours truly, who thought it was a bonehead move to kill the eagerly anticipated Bronx, the strategy appears to be paying off. Earlier this week, Reuters reported that the company “raised its full-year earnings forecast after smashing analysts’ quarterly profit estimates,” which is the first really good news we’re heard about the MoCo’s financial position in an eternity.

At this point, there’s not a ton of info on the Electra Glide Revival, but from the EPA filing, we know that it’ll be powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine. In the teaser image above, it’s clear that the bikes will be sporting spoked wheels, an old-school saddle, and some additional trim, like the bit visible on the front fender. Personally, I’m curious to see what kind of paint schemes will be available, as the right color combo will go a long way in playing up the retro style — and I hope there are some bold options.

While there are more questions than answers about the Electra Glide Revival right now, one thing is clear. Since there are only going to be 1500 units of each Icon model produced, getting your hands on one is going to be tough. So if you’re interested in picking up what’s sure to be a gorgeous throwback? I’d recommend getting on the horn with your local Harley dealer pronto. After the official reveal on April 26th, the phones will likely be ringing off the hook!
