Well, the votes on HDForums’ official poll are in, and regarding the MoCo’s first new bikes in 13 years, the overwhelming majority—66.67%—of HDF members voted for the  “Not For Me, But I Dig It” option.

Only 18.14% said “That’s My Kind of Bike,” and it’s worth noting that less than a percentage point separated the “Dumbest Thing I’ve Seen” and “Destroy Them All” crowds. And while I don’t think anyone at Harley HQ is going to turn back flips over the last two sentiments, these bikes aren’t aimed at anyone on this forum. They’re entry-level machines to get new riders into the dealerships, they’ll certainly see duty in Harley’s safety courses, and there’s plenty of potential for them overseas. Along with the trikes, the Street bikes will neatly bookend H-D’s product line.

Personally, I think Harley should have gone for more of the cafe look with the new machines. I’ve written before about how dead sexy the XR750 is, and I can’t be the only rider who’d buy a modern version—if the prices on anything resembling them weren’t batshit insane. Over on another site, one person commented that “If Harley made a cafe bike, it’d sell like bags of ice in Hell,” and I agree. Regardless, I’ve got my fingers crossed that these bikes are smash hits.
