Mchad's 1999 Harley-Davidson FXR2

A mean, purple muscle bike offered for sale here on H-D Forums has us dreaming of carving corners.

What do you buy when you want a sporty muscle bike and a laid-back cruiser, but you only have space for one machine in the garage? This week’s H-D Forums Marketplace Bike of the Week aims to answer that question.

One of our forum members, Mchad from New York, is selling this gorgeous, tastefully modified 1999 Harley-Davidson FXR2. As opposed to our opening question, Mchad has the opposite problem – he’s got too many bikes.

It’s a nice problem to have, but with two other Harleys in his stable, he just doesn’t ride this FXR2 as much as he expected that he would. He’d rather let someone else enjoy it than have it sit on a battery tender all summer.

This deep purple FXR2 has seen an impressive selection of modifications in the past year. Mchad estimates that he’s spent over $3,000 getting this bike to where he wants it.

As it turns out, we really appreciate his vision. This FXR2 looks the part of a high-performance muscle bike, with its polished mag wheels and bikini fairing.

This bike has the performance to back up its tough streetfighter looks, too. The 80 cubic inch Evo engine sucks air in through a massive, appropriately-named Heavy Breather intake. Spent gases are pushed out of a 2-into-1 Bassani Road Rage exhaust. The engine was also treated to an upgraded ignition module and performance cams.

Of course, a true muscle bike has to handle the curves, too. This FXR2 was treated to a set of custom-made Ohlins rear shocks, which were designed especially for Mchad. Ohlins is the best of the best when it comes to motorcycle suspension, and we don’t often see their high-dollar shocks and forks fitted to Harley-Davidsons.

The bike has also been fitted with fresh Pirelli tires, and the bike has been serviced with Red Line fluids throughout. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind high-performance Harley, Mchad’s FXR2 might be just what you’re looking for. For $9,500, this bike is a great way into the wonderful world of FXRs.
