H-D Forums Marketplace Bike of the Week: '98 95th Anniversary Fat Boy

A classy-looking anniversary Fat Boy with lots of chrome caught our attention this week.

Sure, they may come out every five years like clockwork, but we love the anniversary bikes here on H-D Forums. The special paint and badging sets them apart from other bikes, and best of all, they’re modern, functional pieces of Harley-Davidson history that you can actually own and ride.

That’s why we picked this 1998 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy as our H-D Forums Marketplace Bike of the Week. Each week, we pick a bike offered for sale in our very own H-D Forums Marketplace, and give it a spotlight on the front page. It’s just one more reason why it pays to join our forums.

If you haven’t guessed already, this isn’t just any ’98 Fat Boy. This is a 95th anniversary model, one of just 3,500 built according to the seller, HDForums member hitthecoast. The anniversary-exclusive, two-tone Midnight Red/Champagne Pearl paint adds a touch of class not seen on most Fat Boys.

That classy image is helped along by a considerable amount of chrome and proud, winged anniversary badges on the tank and air cleaner. In addition, the typical Fat Boy disc wheels are absent, instead replaced by wide, chrome wire wheels for a beautiful vintage look.

Speaking of chrome, the long, low Vance & Hines 2-into-2 exhaust looks as good as it sounds. We’d consider it a desirable upgrade. All in all, this bike looks like a cross between a Fat Boy and a Softail Deluxe, and it’s a look we certainly appreciate.

Other extras include a detachable windshield and a Corbin seat, as well as a factory service manual. The seller also has a stack of receipts for work performed to the bike throughout its lifetime. While this Fat Boy started its life in Montana, it now resides in Southern California.

From the bike’s overall condition in the photos, to the inclusion of a factory service manual and receipts, it’s clear that this bike has lived a pampered life. If you’re ready to be the next owner of this 1998 Harley-Davidson 95th Anniversary Fat Boy, it’s currently listed at $7,500 in our forum marketplace.
