Harley-Davidson LiveWire on Indefinite Hold

Hart LiveWire

Sad news everyone, according to Harley-Davidson, the all-electric LiveWire sport bike isn’t going to be hitting the production line anytime soon. After much deliberation, a press tour that left everyone stunned and wanting more, amazing media coverage and reviews, Harley has decided that the LiveWire is just too expensive to build.

The problem really comes down to cost. Harley-Davidson could built the LiveWire, but according to the company, it would cost them $50,000 to build, or in other terms, almost the cost of a Tesla Model S 70W car which just isn’t feasible for the average consumer. Harley states that they want to build the LiveWire, but they just can’t seem to make the numbers work.

Here’s the thing though, even after the world wind press tour, where literally everyone said they loved the bike, I think there still is a nagging doubt that Harley would be able to sell these bikes, or convert their normal customer base that this is good for the brand as a whole.

However, I don’t see how Harley can survive going into the future without branching out with projects like the LiveWire. I sincerely hope that Harley decides to put the LiveWire into production, but we will have to wait and see when that actually might be.
