New Road Glide Special exclusive paint option gives buyers a warrantied factory finish that looks completely custom.

Harley fans are always looking for ways to make their rides stand out from the crowd. And Harley-Davidson knows this, which is why they’re constantly evolving and adding new models and options to their menu. The latest of which is a special edition paint option it calls “Eagle Eye,” which is available exclusively on the 2020 Road Glide Special.

The bright base hue certainly looks more custom than factory-applied, which we imagine is the point here. The yellow base color is covered by a glossy clear coat on the tank, fenders, fairing, saddlebags, and side covers. But if that retina-burning shade of yellow isn’t enough, there’s also a large eagle adorning the right side of the gas tank, continuing onto the sharknose fairing. There’s also a Bar & Shield logo located on the left side of the tank, saddlebags, side covers, and front and rear fenders.

Harley notes that the Eagle Eye Road Glide affords customers an easy way to obtain a custom-looking paint job. And it provides a series of benefits. For starters, custom paint jobs are expensive. They also require a ton of labor, involving a lot of disassembly and prep. And unless you’re working with a shop you know and trust, you don’t really know how it’s going to turn out, either.

Finding a shop you trust to do the work can be a chore, unless you already have one. Snagging a unique paint job from the factory obviously eliminates these problems, as Harley points out. “The Eagle Eye Special Edition paint option finish meets demanding Harley-Davidson standards for quality and durability, and is backed by the Harley-Davidson limited warranty,” they noted.

Of course, you’ll have to pony up a few extra bucks for this special treatment. The 2020 Road Glide Special with the Eagle Eye paint option starts out at $29,294. Which is $1,495 more than the standard model. But if you’re looking for a unique, eye-catching look without the hassle, it’s obviously a great way to get there. And you won’t have to wait around for weeks while the work’s being done. Nor risk some botch job that’ll have you back at square one. And for some, that’ll more than justify the premium.
