Harley Dealers in India Include Riding Gear With New Sportsters

Harley-Davidson dealers in India take the mystery out of gear shopping by including it with your new bike.

Motorcycle buyers in India have a a lot of good reasons to consider Harley-Davidson. Buyers who purchase a new Sportster in the cities of Pune and Kolpahur will receive $650 (that’s about 45,000 Indian rupees) worth of riding gear.

The news comes from RushLane.com, an Indian motorcycle news site. The deal is good for any Sportster from the Iron 883 all the way up to the 1200 Roadster. The deal runs until July 10th.

The gear package is fairly comprehensive. It includes a helmet, a motorcycle jacket, riding gloves, knee guards, and riding boots. A new Sporster owner won’t need anything else to get out and ride, save for gasoline.

Best of all, the included helmet isn’t a cheap skid lid. The helmet included in the package is a full-face model. We prefer full-face helmets as they offer the maximum level of protection. A sizable portion of motorcycle-related facial injuries happen to the jaw.

Safety gear is a major expense when it comes to buying a new bike. Including new gear with the motorcycle makes for a great all-in-one purchase. It takes the mystery out of shopping for gear, which can be as confusing and overwhelming as selecting which motorcycle is right for you.

This move should attract new buyers to the Harley-Davidson brand. It’s a lot of added value on top of an already awesome motorcycle.

We love Sportsters here at HDForums. While many consider them to be the “small” Harley-Davidsons, in India, it’s a very large bike. Sportsters are not an entry-level bike in market’s like these – they’re an aspirational purchase. They’re the mountaintop.

This is a great move by Indian Harley-Davidson dealers. Growing the brand and bringing in new riders is just as important internationally as it is here in the United States.

If we’re lucky, Harley-Davidson dealers here will offer a similar “motorcyclist-in-a-box” promotion. Since dealers do not discount new bikes, it’s a clever way to add value. Once shoppers see how expensive riding gear can be, they may opt to buy the bike that includes everything they’ll need to start riding.
