Harley-Davidson’s Street Series is Being Recalled

If you are a proud new owner of a Harley-Davidson Street 500 or Street 750, you might want to check your enthusiasm a bit. According to Harley-Davidson, around 666 motorcycles (yes that’s the actual number) have a big problem that needs to be fixed ASAP. Harley-Davidson has stated that those 666 motorcycles have a defect in the fuel pump inlet.

Due to this defect, Harley-Davidson is recalling those bikes, and looking into whether or not more motorcycles have this issue. According to the company, the fuel pump module inside the tanks has a poor seal at the inlet; this can cause an interruption in the fuel supply under acceleration, which could bring about an erratic behavior from the motorcycles engine. Harley states that the erratic combustion could potentially be dangerous to the ride and want those affected by the recall to immediately bring their motorcycles into their dealers for fixing.

Thankfully, Harley-Davidson has already instructed its dealers to fix the problem, although the company is unsure of how many were built using this faulty fuel pump seal. Hopefully, the company gets the problem sorted quickly, but if you have one of these bikes, I’d take it in for service immediately.
