Harley-Davidson Museum Visitors Test Ride LiveWire

The past met the future at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee this week.

As their first electric motorcycle, the LiveWire represents a historic landmark for Harley-Davidson. It should be no surprise that one of the first ones off the production line is going straight into the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee.

Visitors the museum were able to get in on the fun on Tuesday and Wednesday. That’s because Harley-Davidson was offering test rides for the new LiveWire in the parking lot outside of the museum.

The news comes to us from WTMJ News 4 Milwaukee. Participants could ride the LiveWire on a small, low-speed agility course in the parking lot itself, or out on the road in front of the museum.

The news report gathered statements from faithful Harley-Davidson fans gathered at the museum for a chance to ride the new bike. In fact, one participant, Johanna Muller, traveled all the way from Germany, where she has run a Harley-Davidson dealership for the past 26 years.

Originally, she was in town for a dealer show, but jumped at the opportunity to be one of the first to ride the new LiveWire. For her, the bike was unlike anything she’d ever ridden. When asked, she said “Wow, just wow,” later adding, “It’s very different, but it’s great.”

Tim McCormick, a public relations analyst for the museum, said that it made his heart race. He added, “I think it’s still delivering what Harley-Davidson has been delivering for 116 years.”

Harley Adams (yes, that’s his real name – cool, right?) purchased one as soon as it was revealed last year. He says, “I’ve had one of these on order since last spring when they told me about it!” Now that’s dedication. He’s still waiting for his bike, so this was his first chance not only to get up close and personal with a LiveWire, but to ride one, too. After his ride, we’re willing to bet that he’s more excited than ever.

If there’s something all three of the riders that were interviewed seemed to agree on, it’s that the LiveWire is a totally different experience – but a great one. At the end of the day, it’s still a Harley-Davidson. We can’t wait to ride one ourselves. Once we do, you’ll hear about it here, first.
