Harley-Davidson Bronx Is Real, but What Is It?

The Harley-Davidson Bronx is slated to become H-D’s next new model. But what kind of model will it be?

As our astute readers already know, 2017 hasn’t been too kind to legendary motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson. The general consensus is that HD waited to long to change with a changing demographic, of course. And now they’re scrambling to make bikes that appeal to the younger generation. The iconic brand simply doesn’t carry the weight it once did, critics say. And we’ve already seen massive changes in Harley’s lineup intended to right the ship.

But Harley-Davidson isn’t done making changes just yet. The cycle maker famous for dominating the cruiser world might have something altogether different in the pipeline. Because according to Motorcycle.com, Milwaukee’s finest recently filed trademarks for both “Bronx” and “Harley-Davidson Bronx” as the name for an all-new motorcycle. We know this because both filings state that the names are intended for use on “motorcycles and structural parts therefor.”

Other than that, there is no indication of what the Harley-Davidson Bronx will be. All we know is that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office requires the filing entity to use the name within 36 months of its approval. Yet, the name “Bronx” conjures up certain images worthy of speculation. Mostly of a tough, urban, largely concrete environment.

V-Rod

Not exactly the kinds of things you would associate with a touring bike, of course. Perhaps a stripped down bobber? A high-performance V-Rod successor? Or maybe an urban traffic carving bike in the mold of the Ducati Monster? Whatever the Harley-Davidson Bronx turns out to be, MoCo isn’t giving out any hints. When Motorcycle reached out for comment, a spokesperson would only say that Harley-Davidson doesn’t comment on future products.

So until we get some kind of clue as to what kind of bike the Harley-Davidson Bronx will be, we’ll continue to dream. And hope that our vision of the ideal street fighting H-D comes true.
